Our head office is located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. The proximity of our facility to the ocean is of prime importance to our plant. Both the Bedford Basin at the head of Halifax Harbour and the nearby open ocean provide a test facility no lab or test tank can duplicate. Our facilities have recently expanded to occupy a facility of over 40,000 sq. ft. of space that is divided into offices, labs, prototyping facilities, electronics assembly/storage, and mechanical assembly. Approximately 20,000 sq. ft. of our space is strictly dedicated to use as manufacturing space.

About the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the assembly, processing, programming, activating, and testing of MetOcean’s products, often using a microscope or magnifier, soldering iron, and various dispensing tools.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare for assembly by comprehending schematic engineering drawings, manufacturing instructions, and parts lists; gathering required parts, tools, and materials
  • Perform complex and advanced assembly of products according to established specifications and instructions
  • Perform post-assembly checks and troubleshooting to avoid and identify defects
  • Build miniature transmitters, electronics, and mechanical parts
  • Utilize fine soldering processes, including surface mount technology
  • Potting and encapsulation of electronic assemblies
  • Complete product and performance testing using electronic test instruments, including multimeters and oscilloscopes, and record test results
  • Meet quality and production standards
  • Adhere to all ISO quality systems and standards
  • Adhere to all safety standards and protocols, including PPE use, to prevent incidents

What you’ll bring:

  • High School Diploma required, Diploma in electronics, mechanical, or similar considered an asset
  • Previous knowledge and proven experience in electronic or mechanical assembly
  • Experience safely and efficiently using a variety of tools, such as multimeters, soldering irons, hand tools, and power tools
  • Experience soldering and knowledge of safe soldering use
  • Ability to read and comprehend schematic engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions
  • Comfortable sitting and standing for extended periods of time
  • Physically able to bend, twist, crouch, and lift weight up to 50 lbs
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Comfortable working independently and managing time to ensure efficiency
  • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety standards and protocols in an assembly environment
