St. Clair College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success.
Description:
The Athletic Therapist will oversee and provide athletic therapy care to varsity athletes and intramural/extra mural athletes along with the overseeing of student and part-time Athletic Therapy staff under the guidance of the Director, College Recreational Services. This position will report to the Director, College Recreational Services.
Summary of Duties:
- Prevention, assessment, and treatment of a variety of sports related injuries using various modalities and strategies.
- Conduct baseline concussion testing, post-concussion testing and follow return to sport protocol for athletes in conjunction with the Head Athletic Therapist.
- Maintain schedule for part time student therapists for coverage of all varsity games, practices, and events.
- Ensure all medical files are accurate, up-to-date and in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where applicable.
- Control, monitor and maintain equipment inside the Athletic Therapy Clinics and ensure they are appropriately maintained.
- Purchase all supplies and equipment for athletic therapy clinics and medical kits.
- Support fitness programs for varsity athletes and work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coach for on-going fitness and wellness of student athletes.
- Responsible for processes and procedures, including Risk Management and Emergency Action Plans under the guidance of the Head Athletic Therapist.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-year degree/diploma in Kinesiology or Athletic Therapy from a recognized institution.
- Active First responder certification.
- Certified Athletic Therapist designation (CAT(c)) and membership in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a post-secondary environment.
- Experience dealing with a variety of competitive and high impact sports.
- Experience treating various activity related injuries and conditions.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
