The Opportunity
Applications are invited to join our Group Underwriting team as a Bilingual Underwriting Technician. Underwriting is the assessment of risk in order to price group insurance and in this position you will work with a great team of professionals to ensure Medavie Blue Cross achieves its underwriting targets on the group health, life and disability income lines of business.
We will train! Ideal candidates are enthusiastic post-secondary graduates who like to analyse data and work with others in fast paced environment. Graduates in accounting, business, or insurance may find this opportunity to be a rewarding career path.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Analysing quote data and preparing proposal and rate file for Group Underwriters
- Communicating with sales on quote specifications
- Processing ad hoc requests for ratings for inforce groups
- Administrative duties as required.
As the ideal candidate, you demonstrate the following:
- Have an understanding of the group insurance business;
- Are self-directed with high levels of personal accountability and responsibility;
- Have excellent reasoning, judgement and decision-making abilities;
- Enjoys working autonomously in a collaborative team based environment
- Are very organized and exhibits high attention to detail;
- Have strong communication skills;
- Have good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products;
- Possess excellent time-management skills and enjoy working in a fast paced environment involving multiple tasks and priorities.
- Language Skills: Bilingualism in English and French is required for this role.
