Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Breakfast Cook at our Poplar Creek Camp in the Fort McMurray area. The successful candidate will be working night shift and will be responsible for preparing breakfast for employees staying at the camp.

Respnsibilities:

• Promote safety awareness by ensuring compliance of corporate health and safety policies
• Ensure all food preparation and portioning are completed prior to cooking
• Ability to use a variety of cooking methods to prepare top quality food including deep-frying, pan-frying, broiling, baking, boiling, grilling, sautéing, steaming, etc.
• Operate all kinds of commercial and non-commercial kitchen equipment
• Wash, slice, peel and cut meat, fruits and vegetables
• Prepare sauces from scratch or using pre-mixed products
• Season and marinate meats and other food items
• Assist in menu planning
• Assist in inventory counts
• Assist grocery orders
• Assist in unloading, loading and placing groceries and supplies
• Clean and sanitize designated kitchen areas
• Ensure health and safety regulations and quality standards are met

Qualifications:

• Red Seal Certification is considered an asset
• Advanced Food Safe Certification
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a cook in remote camps
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
• Valid driver’s license
• Standard First Aid certification is considered an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and work a rotational schedule
• Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned
• Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
