As a first point of contact for Fleet, the Service Writer is responsible for organizing and enacting the preventative maintenance schedule for mechanics. The position also oversees and manages recalls and warranty repairs and conducts walk-arounds and enters information into Calgary Police Service (CPS) Fleet databases. Primary duties include:

Schedule, organize and prioritize all service and safety inspections and preventative maintenance for CPS fleet vehicles.

Manage CF33 and Mobile radio reallocation in vehicles and update record in Fleet Focus to represent the correct location.

Greet customers at the front counter.

Ensure correct mileage and engine hour reading in software (e.g. Fleet Focus) is entered when a Work Order is opened.

Complete a daily Out of Service list and ensure yard management and vehicles are picked up in a timely manner.

Open Work Orders for Scheduled and Unscheduled repairs and ensure Work Orders are opened for all towing activities including vendor tows.

Handle warranty repairs and track warranties for vehicle repairs and parts installed internally.

Review vendor work orders and invoices and enter vendor repairs in Fleet Focus prior to payment.
Qualifications

A High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Service Writer in a computerized fleet maintenance facility or in a related industry such as automotive dealerships or large mechanical repair shops is required.

Proficiency with computers and software (e.g. MS Outlook, Excel, Word) and keyboarding skills to enter Work Order information is required.

A valid Full Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.

Journeyman ticket (e.g. Heavy Duty, Automotive, Motorcycle) would be considered an asset .

Previous experience working on Fleet Maintenance Management system/software (e.g. Fleet Focus) is preferred.

Success in this position requires effective communication skills, efficiency and thoroughness, focus on results, relationship building, service orientation, stress tolerance and team building and teamwork.
