The opportunity
Are you passionate about continuous improvement and change? Then consider joining our team as a Change and Improvement Specialist. As a trusted improvement expert and strategic partner, you’d be working with leaders to make UM strategic priorities a reality.
You can make a difference at UM by improving processes, managing change and strengthening the culture. We are a diverse team of dedicated professionals who support and learn from each other working on initiatives throughout the University as trusted internal consultants.
As internal consultants, we utilize a myriad of skills to support our client’s needs, focusing on continually learning and developing our skills further. This position provides a wealth of valuable experiences and the opportunity to learn new skills.
In this role you will partner with clients to lead their improvement and change initiatives by:
- Collaborating with leaders and their teams to co-create strategies for change and tactics to enable change,
- Applying a systematic problem-solving approach to current issues; understanding the current state, completing root cause analysis and identifying potential solutions,
- Being an active guide and coach clients on change, and lean improvement contributing UM’s improvement and change capable culture,
- Developing and leading continuous improvement events, providing training, and guiding teams through the continuous improvement process.
- Participating in the further development and refinement of change, project management and improvement methodologies employed at UM.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a change specialist, improvement specialist, business analyst or project manager role leading business process transformation and/or organizational change projects.
- Experience and knowledge of change management, project management and process improvement principles, methodologies and tools.
- Strong leadership, team management, planning, organizing, negotiation, facilitation, and decision-making skills with cross-functional multi-department team required.
- Problem solving and root cause analysis skills required.
- Excellent active listening, written and oral communication skills required
- Must be flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations, resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere.
- Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.
- Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with others.
- Must possess strong coaching skills.
