POSITION: Security Guard

ANTICIPATED HOURS: Variable up to 48 hours per week, overtime possible up to 60 hours per week

LOCATION: General Electric (GE)

EFFECTIVE: Immediate openings

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Control vehicle traffic into and out of plant, checking and issuing badges and cards
• Maintain a client ‘Visitor Register’ for each 24-hour periods - issue and receive visitor badges
• Audit vehicles exiting plant and randomly inspect vehicles entering the plant
• Maintain a ‘Security Guard Report’ for every 12-hour period
• Acknowledge system alarms and have investigated
• Punch overtime cards for employees entering and exiting plant at start and end of overtime shifts
• Receive and pass on messages to employees
• Receive/and secure packages/mail usually delivered by courier during silent hours, weekends or holidays. Maintain a mail register
• Issue rental cars (documents and keys) to employees. Receive keys and stamp contracts to validate time of return of rental vehicle
• Monitor cleaning staff attendance/time sheets
• Control/monitor parking during vehicle perimeter checks
• Carry out First Aid duties when the Plant Health Centre is closed
• Control access after-hours during week days and 24 hours per day on weekends and holidays
• Receive request for unlocks
• Inspection of vehicles
• Patrols of the site
• Other duties as assigned by Site Supervisor or client Site Security Manager

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ontario Security Guard License (online training available, see below)
• Emergency First Aid/CPR A
• Ontario Driver’s License and a clean abstract required for position
• Reliable vehicle to attend client sites
• Must be able to pass a security screening
• Canadian Armed Forces, Police & emergency services veterans preferred but not required
