POSITION TITLE: Community Connector - Connect Me In Department

REPORTS TO: Associate Direcotr of Community Engagement

DEPARTMENT: Local and Global Engagement

Position Summary:

0.5 time

The Community Connector is responsible for working with a specific emerging Jewish community around the Lower Mainland to strengthen their capacity to develop and deliver Jewish programs to address community needs and to build a network of volunteers in each community to take on future programming responsibilities.

The Community Connector will report to the Associate Director of Community Engagement and will support the work of their region's committee. The manager will focus on one of the following geographic areas: North Shore OR Delta/Ladner/Tsawwassen.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify programming needs and interests in the specific geographic area.
  • Establish or support informal advisory groups to assist with the delivery of various programs and activities to understand and meet community needs
  • Provide guidance and support to community members in scheduling dates and organizing the selected events and programs;
  • Work with the Federation’s social media position to promote programs and activities on social media and to update the Connect Me In social media and other forms of communications to market and promote the programs.
  • Strengthen and support existing informal Jewish networks in these communities and collaborate to provide appropriate programs and events.
  • Work with assigned community to identify service needs of the community and work with Associate Director of Community Engagement to implement requests.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and foster partnerships with a variety of local Jewish and non-Jewish organizations that can provide space and resources.
  • Fully participate in the Connect Me In team and keep ADCE informed of the day-to-day activities of the portfolio.

Qualifications:

Eligible candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and three years’ experience in community development and outreach experience. A combination of knowledge and skills in-lieu of a degree will be considered. The successful candidate will also demonstrate:

  • Experience and success working in partnership with a variety of stakeholders and community partners including communal professionals and volunteers
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture, traditions and programming and services in the Lower Mainland
  • Effective verbal and written skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • Success at managing a wide array of tasks and projects and an ability to thrive in fast paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

Other:

  • Must be willing to work week-day evenings and Sundays
  • Has the ability to work on in a hybrid model
  • Must have a valid driver's license and own a vehicle
  • Knowledge of Hebrew or Spanish is an asset.
