Position Information
The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a talented and experienced Communications professional for the role of Content Writer. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with communications and digital branding for the New Civic Campus Development. Reporting to the Lead, New Campus Development Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, the Content Writer conceives, creates and develops persuasive, content for a variety of TOH platforms. The primary role of the Content Writer is to curate, create and disseminate content that amplifies TOH’s brand, enhances engagement with its key audiences (both internal and external) and raises awareness of the institution’s mission, vision and values.
The Content Writer works with internal and external stakeholders to identify and create engaging content that promotes, protects and enhances TOH’s brand and reputation.
What you will do
- Work with a variety of partners, both internal and external to identify and develop compelling, engaging content that encourages engagement with TOH’s key audiences.
- Contribute to the development of strategies that will boost branded content and increase audience engagement.
- Adapt, modify, proofread and revise content for appropriate channels and audiences, ensuring consistency and alignment with the TOH brand and messaging.
- Drive the planning and timely dissemination of branded content (primarily digital) across internal and external platforms, monitor its performance and analyze metrics on an ongoing basis with the aim of continuous improvement.
- Work with stakeholders to revise/improve their content to ensure alignment with TOH’s brand, voice, reputation and other requirements.
- Assist with content development for marketing and branding initiatives including digital channels, events, and community engagement.
- Manage projects by developing work plans, obtaining approvals, estimating and tracking resource requirements, and communicating with stakeholders. Monitors the progress of multiple projects.
- Work with the Manager of Content Marketing to identify tools to analyze, track and report performance against goals such as site engagement metrics, sources of traffic, landing page conversion rates, social engagement rates and organic searches.
- Foster and build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to build a positive image and reputation of both the Communications team and TOH.
What you will bring
- University degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field;
- A minimum of four (4) years’ experience creating digital branded content in a corporate environment;
- Experience partnering with teams to define, build, and maintain web experiences that are critical to growth, engagement, and retention;
- Expert in WordPress and proficient in JavaScript, HTML, CMS;
- Knowledge and experience with social media platforms;
- Knowledge and experience with Project Management best practices;
- Proven success in creating compelling, persuasive, engaging professional branded content;
- Direct knowledge of SEO, web marketing experience (analytics, lead capture, and marketing automation);
- Strong knowledge of marketing platforms and technology stack (Google Analytics & Tag Manager) as well as other common applications and social media tools (Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere);
- Specialized knowledge of content management systems, best practices in digital media and be technically proficient in Drupal, WordPress or have an ability to learn other content management systems.
- Eligible to work in Canada.

- Knowledge of communications in a unionized- health care setting;

- Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
Rotation/Shifts
Days, 8 hour shifts.
