Position Highlights

We are looking for a collaborative Creative Graphic Designer who can strategize and develop design solutions to enhance

customer and employee-focused communications within a large, purpose-driven corporation. This is a unique opportunity to

design materials that support visual identity, and to apply your expertise on communications designed for a range of external

and internal audiences throughout B.C., including ICBC’s customers, business partners and employees. Our collaborative

creative team consists of designers, a videographer, a photographer, a copywriter, and strategic communicators, who work in a

hybrid workplace, with two days a week at our head office near the Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.

With proven experience designing in a complex organizational environment, the Creative Graphic Designer will design for a

communication channels (including print, web, video, digital, and social media). The ideal candidate has a passion for team

collaboration, design thinking and innovation, proven design experience working creatively within brand standards and

guidelines, and the ability to distil complex concepts into effective and understandable communications experiences.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create clear and compelling design that engage and inform internal and external audiences, in consistent and appropriate
styles across a range of corporate marketing and communications materials, including print materials, social media graphics and

templates, web graphics, large format installations, promotional items, illustrations, and animations.

  • To support the implement our visual identity guidelines in all materials that are executed by Creative Services with consistency
in design work. Provides their expertise and vision in helping to grow our design library of photographic and illustrative assets

and templates in collaboration with the Creative Services team.

  • To consult and collaborate with our team and/or internal clients to identify needs for projects and campaigns. Evaluates and
reviews creative briefs and work requests. Makes strategic and innovative recommendations based on industry knowledge,

research, and expertise.

  • Executes and delivers projects, establishing work back schedules and maintaining key milestones. Circulates proofs and
presents their work for review. Gathers and incorporates feedback. Communicates regularly with team members and adjusts as

needed to meet deadlines.

  • Reviews materials to ensure that they meet our standards for usability, customer-experience and visual coherence. Takes art
direction and feedback from colleagues when required. Reviews and revises standards and templates as required.

  • Continuous learning of new software, accessibility standards, and best practices in design.
Position Requirements

Knowledge of the following areas is required:
  • Technical skills: Communication design expertise, print production industry best practices, knowledge of best practice for digital
platforms and user-centered design, fundamentals of typography, composition and colour theory; mastery of the Adobe Creative

Suite. Illustration skills and experience with accessible and equitable design principles are considered an asset.

  • Analytical/Problem Solving Skills: identify risk impacting delivery on a commitment, and offer potential solutions, review and
execute designs to ensure brand compliance to our visual identity.

  • Communication skills: to be a collaborative partner for team members and our clients, to provide advice and expertise to team
members and clients on visual needs; to manage expectations. To provide expertise on how art and copy can work together. To

consult and collaborate with other designers across the organization to align processes.

  • Organizational skills: to plan own priorities and adapt to changing demands and schedules. To build files and archive work
within department organizational systems.

  • Concentration ability: to handle multiple tasks and work to strict deadlines, to produce precise and accurate results.
  • Other duties as required.
The above requirements would typically be met through completion of post-secondary education in graphic, communication, or

digital design and 2-5 years of related, recent experience. Membership in a certification-granting design professional

association, such as DesCan or RGD, considered an asset. A link to a graphic design portfolio of profession professional

samples (5-15) is required for application.
