As a Customer Service Representative, you will provide customer service at a counter or over the phone, by responding to a variety of requests related to the services provided by Animal Care & Pet Licensing (for example: animal licensing, redemption or adoption of animals that have been impounded and the No Cost Spay/Neuter Program). You will apply corporate procedures in support of services provided (for example: financial administration and records management). Primary duties include:

Provide customer service to internal and external customers, referring to a variety of databases for information.

Locate and contact owners of animals that have been impounded and investigate and respond to other general inquiries received from the public, 311, City Cashiers and other City employees.

Process new and renewal animal license applications; ensure applications are complete and follow up with customers to resolve application issues.

Accept cash and process debit and credit card payments; enter data into databases.

Provide information (for example: eligibility requirements) and application forms for the No Cost Spay/Neuter Program; forward applications to Fair Entry Administrators (Calgary Neighborhoods) for processing; and, once approved, contact animal owners to schedule surgeries.

Reconcile daily financial transactions resulting from the receipt of cash, credit card and debit payments including balancing floats and completing a variety of financial forms.
Qualifications

A High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) and at least 1 of the following accounting courses: Introductory Financial Accounting, Accounting Principles, Accounting Fundamentals, Bookkeeping and Financial Accounting, Financial Accounting Concepts or Financial Accounting Practices.

At least 3 years of experience working in customer service and in an animal care environment.

An intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required, along with the ability to enter data in an accurate and proficient manner.

Experience working with the Chameleon database and the 311 Customer Service Request Motorola system will be considered an asset

Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills; a high attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, the ability to multitask, well developed conflict resolution skills, and the ability to handle difficult conversations while maintaining confidentiality on sensitive issues.
