Director, Solutions Engineering Job at GTY Technologies
The Opportunity
The Director, Solutions Engineering’s primary role is to lead a cross-product team of Solutions Engineers who are product experts capable of providing solution expertise in the sales cycle including conducting software demonstrations with clients. This role will be relied upon to build and maintain a deep knowledge of the functionality of all GTY products, and to ensure appropriate product expertise complements the sales effort to solve customer challenges. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Sales.
Responsibilities
- Define & execute the strategy for delivery of product expertise in the sales cycle, including re-engineering the demo process as required to ensure maximum impact and effectiveness.
- Acquire a strong knowledge of all GTY products and solutions to support various Solution Engineer’s specific solution activities.
- Attend joint sales calls with Solutions Engineers and Account Executives to conduct in-person or web-based demos from time to time as backfill or for coaching.
- Oversee collaboration with Sales Directors and Account Executives to align on strategy and approach for client demos.
- Assist Solutions Engineers in conducting their own research into specific and unique customer requirements. Remain flexible to tailor demos to maximize relevancy for each prospect client
- Encourage and facilitate Solutions Engineers’ knowledge of all GTY products at a functional level.
- Contribute to the growth and training of the Solutions Engineering group.
- Liaise with the Product Development team and PM team to ensure alignment between functionality that is promised and what can be delivered.
- Liaise with Project Managers, Professional Services and Software Developers to ensure the team maintains a current understanding of the features/benefits/capabilities of GTY’s product and services.
- Provide customer feedback to appropriate channels to help drive product enhancement and servicing strategy
The Right Fit
- Minimum 5 years experience as a software Solutions Engineer
- 3-5 years of leadership in a SaaS environment
- Second level management experience preferred.
- Experience building compensation plans for Solutions Engineers preferred.
- Strong presentation skills and comfortable speaking in front of large audiences
- Able to translate complex concepts and articulate in a way that is clear and concise
- Experience selling into Local Governments and Municipalities strongly preferred.
- Experience selling in U.S. markets strongly preferred.
- Experience with finance, accounting, budgeting, and forecasting will be an asset.
- Ability to relate to diverse individuals across a wide range of positions from C-level to analyst.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and travel to the U.S. or vice versa.
- Strong salesforce skills
