Description:

As our Dispatcher you are the primary communication point for Drivers. You will assign service orders, resolve problems and ensure efficient, professional service to our customers. Interacting with internal customers including Customer Service, Operations & Sales team members, you will provide updates, address service concerns and optimize routing to create capacity, maximize productivity and meet the needs of our customers. Using software applications such as SoftPak, Fleetmind & others, you manage service requests in real time, creating & modifying plans throughout the day while preparing all routes for the next day.

This role works a continental 2-2-3 shift. Night premiums are paid in addition to salary. Currently looking for candidates with previous waste industry experience. Other candidates may be considered but preference given to those with waste experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

The Duties below include but are not limited to the following:

• Dispatch drivers to a combination of scheduled calls and call-ins – adjusting throughout day
• Receive calls from drivers on any service issues, challenges, mechanical breakdowns or assistance needed
• Work with the Collection Operations department to optimize routes & ensure completion
• Communicate with Fleet Operations to coordinate service calls & assist truck repairs
• Provide updates as requested to Customer Service & Sales
• Utilize Fleetmind and affiliated reports to maximize capacity by ensuring productive use of all assets, equipment & drivers
• Ensure route completion via "driver check-in" process and close all prior day routes within the Soft-Pac operating system.
• Proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery & service issues
• Prepare, update and distribute the daily route schedule by gathering and maintaining route sheet documentation & route completions
• To carry out any additional duties as required by management

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience working in the waste industry is an asset.
• Able to prioritize tasks, problem solve and multi-task in a fast paced environemnt
• Excellent communicator with strong ability to build relationships
• Solid knowledge of computers and ability to learn new software.
• Thrives in high pressure, urgent work environment
