EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR

DUTIES
Reporting to the Dean, and working with other ECE instructors in Kenanow Faculty of Education, the instructor will plan and deliver courses
in the Early Childhood Education program, on-campus and, if necessary, by distance technology. In addition to teaching duties, the instructors
will be responsible for classroom management, student supervision, advising, tutoring, maintenance of student records, grades, and other
administrative tasks. Candidates are required to submit certificate of ECE III designation with applications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Manitoba ECE III level designation by Province of Manitoba’s Early Learning and Child Care Qualifications Branch
- Experience working in a childcare facility (licensed, unlicensed, Head Start or other)
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
- Effective communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency with relevant educational and MS Office technology/software
- Ability to work independently and in a team-teaching situation
- Excellent problem solving and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to understand and to deal with issues specific to Indigenous learners and mature students in northern
- Understanding of land or place-based learning objectives
- Commitment to life-long learning
ASSETS
• Bachelors or Master's degree in a related field (Early Childhood, Arts, Education, Social Work, Business, or Recreation), completed
- Experience and/or knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures
- Experience working in northern Manitoba communities
- Experience teaching in an ECE II program
- The ability to speak an Indigenous language and conduct cultural ceremonies or teachings
- Post-secondary or Adult Education Experience (teaching, mentoring, or supervising student placements)
- Experience supervising or managing a childcare center and staff
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Completion of Teaching for Learning in Applied Education (TFL) certification within 3 years of employment
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry
