We are seeking Civil and Mechanical students to work as an Engineering Student for our project sites located in Edmonton and Terrace, BC. We are looking for students that are available for 4 , 8 or 12 months starting in May 2023.
Here's how a(n) Engineering Student for our Edmonton Buildings office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
The role will be involved in a combination of the following duties dependent on the assigned project/ department:
- Monitor and coordinate trade scopes of work
- Coordinate and update field drawings, specifications and project schedules
- Participate in project meetings and get a chance to be part of something bigger by working closely with seasoned project professionals
- Conduct trade contractor quote reviews
- Get to visit some of our impressive projects and job sites while taking progress photos and monitoring deficiency logs knowing that you helped build that
- Be responsible for performing bid day assignments and overall bid document control. Everyone at PCL takes ownership and that includes students.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and monitor worker productivity
- Virtual design and construction using BIM tools
- Assist in the translation of 2D drawings and specifications into 3D/4D building information models
- Assist with as-built drawings
- Site layout based on model elements
- Assistance with on-site problem solving
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
- Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
- Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketchup will be considered an asset.
- Access to a clean, reliable vehicle
