POSITION SUMMARY:

The Estimator will be responsible for estimating a variety of commercial projects with a direct contribution to cost management and budgeting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Review and Develop discipline and multi-discipline materials takeoffs (MTO)

· Evaluate and Develop construction rates, subcontract cost estimates and proposals

· Perform productivity analysis of cost estimates; perform comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects

· Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness; provide recommendations for alternates where applicable

· Identify scopes of work

· Contact necessary sub-trades and suppliers for estimates

· Supply necessary sub-trades and suppliers with required drawings and data

· Field construction-related questions from sub-trades and suppliers

· Complete preliminary construction schedules

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum 5 years of experience in construction and cost estimating

· Formal education in construction (Diploma/Certificate) is considered an asset.

· Quantity Surveying or accounting related degree and/or relevant experience would be an asset

· Understanding of a construction worksite is considered an asset

· Ability to document and organize complex streams of information (efficiently, accurately with minimal information, strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills)

· Clearly communicate estimating concepts to various individuals in the organization

· Understanding of Building Construction from concept to completion

· Demonstrated organizational and communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)

· Ability to lead by example and set the standard of professionalism

· Proficiency with computers (Microsoft Office, MS Project)

· Proficiency with Building Connected to leverage sub-trades is an asset

· Proficiency using Planswift Take-off software is an asset

Salary: $81,221.33-$94,823.83 per year
