We are hiring for an Experienced Server with wine knowledge to join Morris East Restaurant + Wine Bar on Quinpool Road to work as server and help build/oversee our wine program.

Morris East has a beautiful dining room with a fantastic menu of artisanal pizzas, house made pastas and desserts.

We are looking for a Server who is passionate about wine and loves interacting with guests about their menu choices, providing professional wine, beer or beverage pairing recommendations.

We would like to expand our current wine list; offering more wines by the bottle and daily feature wines. We would like for you to help contribute to building a small wine program and be the key staff member responsible for training staff on the wine features and be the first contact for wine agents. Experience with cocktails would also be beneficial.

Description of duties:

Serving Duties:

• Manage your own section of tables independently
• Provide professional wine, beer or beverage pairing recommendations which compliments our menu
• Run food, bus tables, take card and cash payments, take take out orders and work in our slice shop serving slices as needed
• Bartend as required
• Assesses challenging situations and make appropriate decisions on how to resolve them in a professional and timely manner
• Supervise the restaurant on the Manager’s days off
• Other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager

Wine Duties:

• Work with the culinary management team to build an affordable, fun wine list which makes sense for a pizza and pasta menu
• Work with the Manager to train staff on new wines
• Take weekly inventory of the wine and place orders
• Ensure wines opened for by-the-glass sales are sold
• Demonstrate in depth knowledge of wine terminology, wine varietals and tasting profiles
• Assist guests in choosing the most appropriate wine and/or drink to accompany their meal

Experience:

• 2 years (preferred)
• Experience doing wine service at tables
• Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant setting
• While we are willing to train the right people, more experience is considered an asset.

Other requirements:

• Food handling safety certification considered an asset
