Farm Accountant Job at D&C Vander Zaag Farms
D&C Vander Zaag Farms is a family operation in the Shelburne, Melancthon, Collingwood area. We currently have an opportunity on the team for a Farm Accountant. This is a permanent role, with opportunities to work from home. This position is ideal for someone with accounting experience, who enjoys working with a great team of people, in a positive and fast paced learning environment. The successful candidate will ideally a background in agriculture, or a keen interest in learning. This role is an integral part of the farm team and operation.
Responsibilities:
- Accounting duties for the farm business
- Collect and utilize farm data to improve yield
- Day to day processing of inbound mail and payables
- Coordination and record keeping of all food safety, Canada GAP and compliance requirements for buyers
- Traceability and tracking of crops, from planting to storage to final sale
- Food safety audits
- Field by field cost of production records and analysis
- Quality assurance processes
- Ability to be hands on and help in the field if required
Requirements:
- Accounting experience, including financial reports
- Strong administrative skills
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work occasional weekend hours as required
- A team player who builds positive working relationships
- Requires a valid driver's license and clean abstract
