Fraud & Collections Assistant (Term) Job at Alterna

Scope of Position

Under the direction of the Manager, Fraud & Collections, the Fraud & Collections Assistant works autonomously for Alterna Savings and Alterna Bank supporting both the Fraud and Collection Depts. This administrative role quickly develops a rapport with both the Fraud & Collection teams including members/clients while ensuring compliance and adherence to operational policies and procedures.

As part of the ongoing development this role will require that you be flexible to assist in both areas as required, dealing with general administrative duties within both areas.


Major Responsibilities

  • Second call validation for wires which includes due diligence, tracking and adherence to the operational process.
  • Responds to member/client needs by delivery of friendly, efficient service and accurately processing various financial transactions
  • Resolves member/client issues at first point of contact where possible and refer to senior members of the Fraud or Collection team based on the complexity of the situation for support.
  • Strives to create a positive member/client experience through each interaction and looks for ways to continuously improve the overall member/client branch experience.
  • Data entry, reviewing data, validating data, updating accounts all may be required on an on-going basis
  • Support effectively both the Fraud and Collection teams with ad-hoc duties as required.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance and adherence to operational policies, procedures, objectives and Code of Business Conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or an equivalent level of experience and education.
  • 2 year previous banking or general administrative experience
  • Strong computer literacy with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel experience being essential
