Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Business Manager of the Métis Trackers Division (owned and operated by Infinity Métis Corp. ‘IMC’), The General Labourer, under the direction of the Métis Trackers Yard Supervisor, is primarily responsible for executing assigned yard and grounds maintenance tasks for clients. They are focused on working safely by completing a Field Level Risk Assessment prior to beginning any task. They also contribute to our continuous safety improvement by actively contributing to daily safety toolbox meetings.
The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of IMC, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.
This full-time hourly position is based on 40 hours weekly. Additional hours may be required in order to meet Company and/or Client requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general labour duties as required, such as seasonal grounds maintenance, yard maintenance and wash bay duties (fleet vehicle) as well as other assigned tasks;
- Safely operate and maintenance all equipment, including tractors, skid steers, push lawn mowers, chainsaws, golf carts, trucks, and pull trailers, and other equipment as required;
- Complete Field Level Risk Assessments before starting work and contribute to daily safety toolbox meetings;
- Submit timecards daily to the Yard Supervisor; and,
- Other relatable duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Grade twelve (12) Diploma or General Educational Diploma ‘GED’ equivalency is required;
- Valid Class five (5) Alberta Driver’s License, along with a clean five (5) year abstract is required;
- Criminal Record Check is required;
- Proven ability to follow direction, work independently and as part of a team;
- Required to demonstrate your commitment to safety in the workplace; and,
- Must be flexible and work effectively in a fast paced environment.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Fitness and stamina required for repeated or lengthy times of walking, bending, lifting, standing, kneeling or crouching;
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently;
- Will work off elevated surfaces;
- Walk on slippery or uneven surfaces occasionally;
- Vision, hearing, speaking, eye-hand coordination is required;
- Work outdoors in various conditions including hot, cold, wet and dry weather conditions;
- Noise level in the outside work environment is frequently loud; and,
- Where designated, Personal Protection Equipment ‘PPE’ is required at all times.
Qualified status with the Métis Nation of Alberta or fluency in Dene Cree are preferred candidate traits.
