Reliable Fleet Services (“Reliable”) is a rapidly growing professional towing services company that is creating a Pacific Northwestern platform strategically focused on serving the commercial transportation and logistics market. Over the past two years, Reliable has completed numerous acquisitions and is currently the largest professional towing company in Western Canada with over fourteen locations and more than 180 employees. Reliable is seeking a General Manager (“GM”) to oversee operations at several company locations. As we continue to grow, we are searching for talented managers who can manage several locations and have the flexibility to travel regularly between the locations and Reliable’s head office in Chilliwack. Our immediate requirement is for an individual in the southern interior of BC (i.e., Vernon, Salmon Arm, Merritt, etc.). As we continue to expand throughout BC and Alberta, we expect similar roles in other locations will be required in the near future. The GM is responsible for ensuring each location delivers its strategic and financial goals and integrates seamlessly within the company’s strategic goals. We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and highly organized professional. This position will be responsible to coordinate with Reliable’s leadership, utilize available resources and manage all aspects of the individual locations. With coordination with Reliable’s senior management, the following aspects are the GM’s primary responsibilities:
- Efficient Operations: Supervisory responsibility to ensure each location achieves targeted strategic and financial targets and operates in line with organizational objectives. This will include scheduling, overseeing dispatchers, technicians, and drivers. The manager will be highly organized and with a passion for clean, well maintained equipment and facilities.
- Customer Focused Service. You will be tasked with achieving sales and profitability targets, as well as high customer review ratings. You have the ability to communicate with customers, customer challenges, and customer opportunities.
- Culture & Employee Relations: Build a culture of safety, engagement, motivation, and recognition. Work with senior management to resolve and prevent employee relations issues through coaching and training. You must have the ability to take initiative and possess skills for problem solving and conflict resolution. Responsible for recruiting and managing employees. Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Fleet Management. Responsibility for all equipment and ensure maintenance and repair standards are upheld on budget, while minimizing equipment down-time.
- Safety & Compliance. Responsible for holding regularly scheduled safety meetings with staff. Ensure compliance with federal and provincial transportation requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
- Communication: You will be required to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, with excellent communication skills. You must have the ability to take initiative and possess skills for problem solving and conflict resolution.
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in business, transportation & logistics, or related field would be an asset.
- Familiarity with National Safety Certificate requirements
- Minimum 2 years leadership experience
- Several years of experience in an office setting would be an asset
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong and professional work ethic.
- Ability to relocate, if required.
- Extensive travel will be required.
Location:
- Southern Interior BC, flexibility on “home location”
- Travel to company locations in Western Canada.
