Generating Station Operator, Part-time Position - Kapuskasing

Hydromega Services Inc., an independent renewable energy producer, owns and
operates four hydroelectric generating stations on the Kapuskasing River near the town
of Kapuskasing, Ontario, one hydroelectric generating station on the French River near
the Dokis First Nation, Ontario and one dormant cogeneration facility in Cochrane,
Ontario. Hydromega is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of
Generating Station Operator on a part-time basis for its Kapuskasing location. This job

Under the authority of the Manager - Operations & Asset Management, the Generating
Station Operator, Part-time Position is responsible for the day-to-day troubleshooting and
operation of the generating station in order to maximize its long term energy output. He is
also responsible for the daily maintenance and surveillance of all the mechanical and
electrical equipment. He will support and assist during the planned maintenance outages.
The Generating Station Operator, Part-time Position operates the generating stations,
dams and energy production equipment according to best practices and regulations in
place, especially those regarding wildlife protection and public security as well as in
accordance with the authorizations and permits received, contract to sell electricity and
the interconnection agreement with the electrical network utility.

Candidate profile

Certificate or diploma of collegial studies in electromechanics,
electrotechnology, electricity, processes and/or mechanics;

Certified electrician in the province of Ontario such as trade #442A or 309A will
be considered as a significant asset;

Must have a minimum experience of 5 years in generating station’s operations
or industrial processes;

Knowledge and experience with electrical circuits, PLC, hydraulic circuits and
heavy machinery;

Must be able to interpret technical drawings (civil, mechanical, electrical),
specifications and wiring diagrams;

Basic knowledge of the operations of a generating station and good knowledge
of the safety aspects;

Computer and software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint);
Excellent communication skills in French and English – written or spoken.

The Generating Station Operator, Part-time position hours may swing considerably,
ranging from nothing to a full 40hrs per week based on the needs of Hydromega and the
availability of the candidate. The Generating Station Operator, Part-time position will
normally work regular day hours but may be asked from time to time to work overtime and
provide 24h/day on call coverage. Weekend work may be required and Hydromega needs
to be able to reach this individual within a reasonable amount of time.
