The Inventory Control Specialist will be working in our Kitchener, ON wire cut cookie plant that produces 17 million cookies per week! This state of the art facility operates with 4 highly automated production lines and possess a strong team oriented culture. Scope:
Responsible for coordinating daily cycle counts as well as coordination of month end activities. Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and work cross functionally to resolve. Proactively work to prevent unnecessary aging of materials to prevent loss. Lead by example, train material handlers on cycle counting effectively and educate on the importance of inventory accuracy. Conduct regular cycle counts and update perpetual inventory. Reconcile production orders for accurate finished good production and material consumption.

Job Duties:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Point person for day to day inventory issues
  • Manages cycle counts for geographic counting(A-Z): generates cycle count list, may involve daily cycle counting, and cycle count corrections
  • Root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies, look for solutions to recurring problems
  • Track and maintain inventory accuracy for cycle count accuracy at our site. Log information in to Share Point.
  • Account for all production usages for each production run, check for variances/errors during reconciliation.
  • Respond to count requests from various departments promptly depending on priority
  • Ensure accuracy of cycle count transactions
  • Monitor all blocked inventories and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Conduct product life cycle inventory analysis and take lead to the related actions.
  • Attend weekly blue feather project inventory meeting
  • Investigate and resolve any negative quantiles showing in all systems.
  • CHEP/PECO weekly/monthly reconciliation
  • KANBAN, TANK and MISC reconciliation
  • May include additional duties assigned by Manager
Required Competencies & Knowledge:
Knowledge of:
  • Production and inventory processes.
  • Material handling, Receiving warehouse and flow of materials, BOM ( Bill Of Materials)
Skilled in:
  • Organization and time management
  • Data analysis and problem solving using defined methodologies
  • Forklift operation
Ability to:
  • Lead by example, promote team work
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure collaborative relationships with Hearthside staffs
  • Work effectively with all levels of the organization (production, receiving and shipping, QA, procurement)
  • Follow HFS SOP and update inventory control SOP.
  • Utilize ‘best in class’ behaviors with focus on safety, quality, and policy focus
  • Multi-task and respond to non-routine requests
  • Operate fork lifts, pallet jacks, scissor lift and shuttle truck (occasionally, not daily)
  • Work in a detail oriented fashion
  • Work over time occasionally based on business requirement especially during period end
Work Environment:
  • Work is primarily done in an office and occasionally in the warehouse
  • Occasionally production environment exposure which includes noise, dust, moving machinery, fork lifts, and fluctuations in temperature.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting at a work station for extended periods of time
  • Stand, walk, climb stairs on a frequent basis
  • Climb on and off a forklift occasionally
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 years Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics or Business Management
  • 1 or more years of experience in inventory control in a manufacturing or high speed distribution environment
  • Demonstrated math and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills; MS Excel, MS office, SharePoint a plus
  • Experience with ERP programs, SAP a plus
