Position Summary

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, we are looking for a hands-on experienced Junior Software Developer in Test. Your work will directly support and enable the development of our cloud-based platform, simulation models and engines, Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) development, and SaaS products. For this role, you will work with Scrum development teams (local and offshore) delivering QA services for new software, developing automated test cases, testing new features, participating in SDLC and what not.

What you’ll be doing

As a member of the development team, you will have a broad range of responsibilities related to ensuring quality control for Stream products. You will participate in development sprints, test cases support and creation, test documentation creation, new features testing, bugs report creation. We are looking for someone who is passionate about testing and ready to implement and learn how to cover contract testing, integration testing, component testing, performance testing, security testing.

The role’s direct responsibilities include:

• Analyze functional requirements.
• Develop, execute, and maintain test suites and test scenarios (both automated and manual) for both new product feature requirements and defects.
• Evaluate and identify test scenarios for test automation, deploy automated tests for integration with our CI build pipeline.
• Identify software defects and work with the product team on user acceptance and experience.

Requirements

To ensure success in the role, you will need the following:

• Bachelor’s degree or formal qualifications from an institute of technology in a STEM related discipline, such as Engineering or Computer Science.
•  2+ years of experience as Junior Software Developer in Test.
•  Prefer working proficiency in Java 11, TestNG, Selenium WebDriver, docker, selenium-hub.
•  Understanding of how and what to test in REST API.
•  Familiarity with databases and an ability to construct basic queries.
•  Familiarity with Unix command line.
• Familiarity with GIT.
• Experience testing ML and heavy data intensive applications throughout the process from data ingestion automation to application test execution.
•  Experience in performance and security testing would be considered an asset.
• Experience with messaging platforms like Kafka or RabbitMQ considered an asset.
• Functional experience using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, TestRail, Jenkins, SonarQube would be considered an asset.
• Understanding of Code Metrics, CVE and Architectural Fitness Functions would be considered an asset

Work environment/Hours/Location

This is a full-time position based on a 40-hour work week. We are driven by objectives, however, not timesheets. Stream’s head office is location in Calgary, Alberta with remote workers located across the country in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec. We are happy to provide a hybrid work environment, enabling you to work remotely and in office.
