The Department of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking a Physiatrist-Clinician Teacher for the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network. The successful candidate will be an academic clinician who represents scholarly achievement and clinical excellence. The successful applicant should be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and will be expected to work in the position description of Clinician Teacher or Clinician in Quality & Innovation. Effective start date is July 1, 2023 or shortly thereafter.
The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network, is seeking a dynamic and compassionate clinician with an outstanding record of accomplishment in areas that include medical education, research, and quality with a strong commitment to rehabilitation of individuals living with complications from cancer and specialized advanced training in interventional medicine, including electromyography. The successful candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient consultations. There is also a desire to develop inter-professional collaborative clinics with related specialties such as oncology and palliative care to develop new strategies to optimize function and recovery. This includes facilitating exercise prescriptions for oncology patients, development of clinical pathways, and research for cancer rehabilitation care and exercise.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, be eligible for certification in Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, have, or be eligible for, licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, have, or eligible for, Fellowship certification in Cancer Rehabilitation and eligibility for a full-time academic appointment in the Department of Medicine, Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Toronto. For applicants fitting the Clinician Teacher academic position description, excellence will be assessed by the presence of scholarly contributions to teaching and education as evidenced by pedagogical innovation, curriculum development, experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level and teaching awards. For applicants fitting the Clinician in Quality and Innovation academic position description, academic excellence will be measured by demonstrated Creative Professional Activities and/or first author peer reviewed publication relevant to Quality and Innovation.
Estimated remuneration includes base support from a provincial alternative funding program plus fee-for-clinical-service income, and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2023 or until the position is filled.
