We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team at Magnus Law as a Legal Assistant. The ideal candidate is an organized, hard-working team player that has previous experience in a legal environment. Responsibilities:

Set meeting dates and arrange court filings

Track court dates and manage calendar

Open and close files

Prepare and draft correspondence documents, including court pleadings

Assist with preparation of court applications and trial briefs

Assemble application records, case authorities, trial exhibits and corresponding indexes

Communicate effectively with legal assistants, paralegals, opposing counsel, and clients on file progress and next steps

Time entry and billing

Meeting deadlines and limitation dates

Perform general administrative duties as needed

Qualifications:

Successful completion of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program

3-5 years previous legal administrative experience, preference is given to applicants with experience in civil litigation and trial preparation

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is required, proficiency in other languages is considered an asset

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software is required. Experience with LEAP legal software is considered an asset.

Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills

Strong ability to interpret instructions and prepare required documentation, including court documents, letters and memos

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and exercise sound judgement, discretion and confidentiality

Ability to adapt to changing demands and maintain a professional deportment and presence

Ability to work well on a team, as well as the ability to lead a team

Salary: $31,984.32-$45,000.00 per year
