The Opportunity

Shawcor is looking for a Material Handler - Glass Cutter to join our production team at our Edmonton 36 (6907 36th Street NW) manufacturing facility. As a Material Handler - Glass Cutter you will be accountable for ensuring materials are cut to specifications, kitting various materials, and supplying those kitted materials throughout the production facility.

In this role, you will:

• Create and maintain inventories of cut glass/parabeam for production needs
• Identify the proper components and materials for kitting to be used for the job process by following drawings and other instructions
• Distribute those items to appropriate areas
• Attend to problems as they occur and constantly communicate with production departments throughout the workday to ensure material is always replenished timely
• Review kitting item inventories to alert supervisor as needed
• Move materials to maintain stock in glass cutting / kitting area
• Perform monthly inventory counts of raw materials
• Maintain process paperwork as required
• Maintain a neat and tidy work area
• Perform all duties in accordance with the Company’s safety standards
• Support the production process and other activities as required

We would love to hear from you if:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1-year experience in a similar role, manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
• Communicate well with others and like to work as part of a team
• Read and follow blueprints and drawings is an asset
• Have a good understanding of the English language including verbal, written, and reading skills
• Familiarity with basic office software packages such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook
• Can learn new tools and equipment (forklift). Experience operating a forklift is an asset
• Can care for hand and power machinery, required to maintain equipment in good condition
• Have good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Are comfortable working in a fiberglass plant environment
• Are able to lift up to 20-50 lbs., with bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
• Have your own transportation as public transit is not available
