Summary: Plan, design and implement manufacturing processes, systems and equipment in industrial plant in order to meet and maintain the target percentage line availability and supporting functions.
The ideal candidate:
- must have practical hands on engineering experience;
- experience with chemical delivery pumps, machine installations and alignment;
- works with a high level of precision on the production line.
Essential Duties:
- Support maintenance manager and team to ensure line availability is at or above target by tending to breakdowns and assisting with preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
- Troubleshooting issues in production: performing root cause analysis on issues, pareto analysis on weekly KPI figures to tackle primary issues and long-term availability planning.
- Plan engineering projects: gather quotes, develop budget plans and timelines for major projects, manage spending, design solutions, organize labour and implement engineering changes throughout the plant.
- Confer daily with planning and operations staff concerning production scheduling, machine capabilities and engineering issues to ensure efficient production methods.
- Spare parts planning: confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and conduct associated training for machine operation, maintenance best practices, LOTO and safety procedures.
- Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and capabilities.
- Analyzes manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
- Supports company policies and procedures, goals and objectives and goods manufacturing practices such as Kingspan’s Planet Passionate environmental program and compliance to standards and regulations.
- Focuses on continuous improvement and monitoring of operational functions associated with manufacturing and work closely with quality department to ensure product specifications are being met by optimizing our machine performance.
- Reporting on KPIs related to manufacturing and associated functions.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university;
- A min of 2-3 years related engineering experience and training.
Computer Skills:
- Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Outlook.
- CAD skills are essential – SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D modelling software) and AutoCAD (or equivalent 2D modelling software).
Skills Requirements & Job Demands:
- Engineering Drawing generation and interpretation inc. Chemical P&ID’s.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation in a professional manner.
- Practical/ hands on experience with the safe use of power tools and hand tools. Comfortable in assembling/disassembling machinery e.g., pumps, shaft/ bearings, geartrains, chains and pulleys, motors and other common mechanical components.
- Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
- Willing to work Saturdays and/or Sundays, on occasion.
- Regular working hours are 8am to 4:30pm however some there will be occasions where the engineering team is required to stay if line support is needed to get back up and running.
