Position Overview
This is a unique opportunity to work in Heavy’s fast-growing Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete production. We seek a dependable, keen, and willing to learn individual with preferably 2 years of hands-on experience in the construction/ precast concrete industry. Our production team hires from a diverse range of skillsets with Carpentry and formwork, Sculpting and Metal Fabrication to name a few. This is an entry level position for an ambitious candidate with a great attitude towards physical work. This candidate must be a passionate trades or craftsperson who embraces and believes in getting the job done with integrity and accountability. This role is a permanent position with training provided. Overtime will be required and work on Saturdays may also be require depending upon Project requirements. This position will be at our indoor shop facility, with the requirement to work outdoors for the onsite installations.
Qualifications/Required Knowledge & Skills
— Good communication skills.
— Experience working in a fast-paced hard work environments such as a Precast Concrete Production Line, Landscaping and General Construction.
— Knowledge and familiarity with power tools and construction equipment is required.
— 2 years hands on experience in General Labour and Carpentry considered an asset but entry level candidates may also apply.
— Experience with sanding and applying a sprayed finish on wood or concerete.
— Familiarity with placing and mixing concrete, formwork and finishing and asset.
— Art Degree Considered an Asset.
— Experience reading and understanding Design Plans, including Architectural and Structural drawings considered an asset.
— Ability to work with cranes and forklifts Including participating in rigging and hoisting operations considered an asset.
— Job specific training provided.
Responsibilities
— Must have a Positive Attitude and be good at taking instruction or working collaboratively.
— Must be physically fit and able to work hands on for sustained periods.
— Must be able to and willing to use power tools.
— Must be able to lift 50lbs and be able to perform a variety of repetative physical tasks.
— 100% adherence to internal COR safety program, including monitoring and training for direct reports and actively participates in the development, and maintenance of the safety culture on the project. Willing to comply with Heavy work safety policies, practices, and procedures.
— Willing to study, learn and practice the specialized techniques of batching GFRC.
— Willing to use, clean and maintain all concrete equipment and workspaces associated with the pouring of concrete.
— Assist in all levels of mold production and manufacturing of GFRC.
— Ability to work collaboratively to complete projects within tight timelines and rapidly changing environments.
— Ensure all tools/equipment are in working order prior to commencement of work.
Terms of Employment:
— Full time at 40 hours a week. Overtime after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week, paid at time and a half.
— $24.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on qualifications (wage scale increases based on additional experience). Wage increase is dependent on annual review.
— Benefits after a 3-month probationary period are provided.
