PROJECT MANAGER - TOOLING & AUTOMOTIVE PACKAGING

The successful candidate will be joining our team at our newly built state-of-the art facility in North Waterloo.
Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management and success of multiple projects simultaneously (initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing). Projects can consist of automated packaging/sealing machines, secondary operation special purpose machines, trim tooling, etc.
  • Working with sales, quotations, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing staff as required for successful project delivery.
  • Communicate with customers; technical details and requirements, delivery status (timelines), quality objectives, etc.
  • Schedule milestone meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify risks and roadblocks to the successful completion of projects and work with management to resolve.
  • Participate in weekly production meetings to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Complete and maintain project documentation.
  • Coordinate outsourcing activities when required based on internal resource capacity constraints (design and manufacturing).
  • Complete close-out reports and job analysis.
  • Document and follow up on customer objections if/when they arise.
  • Maintain good relations with all customers as the internal ODC contact.
  • Communicate and maintain good rapport with all staff members.
  • Develop an understanding of ODC products and services to be better able to answer customer inquiries and become a product champion for ODC tooling.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.
  • Must be able to travel in North America

Qualifications:

  • Project Management experience from a manufacturing industry (automation and tool & die projects).
  • A technical background with the ability to decipher detailed mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent customer service, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Project).
  • Must be willing to learn and use software packages for project and data management (Navision, SmarTeam, etc.)
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work with moderate supervision in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities and timeframes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar technical Project Management role (interacting with external customers).
  • Automation/tooling manufacturing background is required.
  • An excellent command of the English language as well as written skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within North America.
  • Periodically respond to emergency customer impacting situations after hours.
