Job Profile: Registered Nurse (RN)

A critical member of the HHS team, the ideal RN candidate has the knowledge, skill, judgement and abilities to contribute in all phases of the continuum of client care. HHS is seeking an RN with experience in Occupational Health.

The candidate is a natural team player who is loyal, dedicated, detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, and a proven professional who recognizes the importance of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate confidence by relying on foundational knowledge, critical thinking and clinical judgement in the work place.

Location: Hines Health Services Clinic (Suite 2 - 604 Signal Road, Fort McMurray, Alberta)

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide client care by utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching

· Perform routine nursing duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and Standards of Nursing Practice as defined by the provincial licensing body

· Conduct occupational health assessments, including audiometrics, drug and alcohol screening, in collaboration with other nursing staff and medical team

· Ensure that clients are provided with immediate and professional medical care, and advise and/or arrange timely transport to a medical facility

· Always act in a manner that ensures the client’s dignity, safety, privacy and confidentiality

· Be familiar with work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures

· Take reasonable care to use safety and personal protective equipment as required by health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures

· Report to HHS supervision and management immediately after any incident or condition believed to be hazardous to worker’s health and safety

· Refuse work if danger is imminent or not controlled

· Read, understand and comply with HHS’s Medical Control Guidelines, Safety Policies and Job Procedures, as well as applicable government laws and regulations

· Work within their applicable scope of practice determined by their licensing body and under the medical control of the HHS medical director, utilizing the HHS Medical Control Guidelines

Qualifications:

· Minimum 2 years’ experience in a clinical setting

· Completion of an accredited four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree offered at the college level

· Active registration with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) under the Registered Nurses Profession Regulation

· Certified in audiometrics, and drug and alcohol screening (Candidates not meeting this requirement must be willing to take training to become certified)

· An OHN diploma is an asset

· Have a willingness to work shift work, including nights, work on statutory holidays, and in some cases work overtime;

· Have a willingness to work on-call; and

· Pass a pre-employment screening including criminal background check as well as a alcohol and drug screening

· Screen and workplace health assessment (“Fit for Duty” test).
