• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, renewed annually
• A commitment to optimal standard of nursing care within the centre’s environment, serving patients of all ages
• Provide current Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate and demonstrate a sound knowledge of emergency response within the centre and as required, in response to telephone issues
• Proven medication administration certificate or acceptable certification including intramuscular injections, determination of skill with intra-dermal injections, and allergy injections.
• Demonstrate a commitment to continued nursing education and support for the College of Nurses Quality Assurance Program
• Support for the membership in the RNAO or RPNAO (malpractice insurance recommended)
• Dress appropriately to demonstrate to patients a professional image and safety.
• Demonstrate a respect and knowledge of limitations, be flexible and strive for self-improvement
• Demonstrate punctuality, timely arrival for daily preparations
• Team player, assist others as necessary
• Primary responsibilities include initial preparation for pt visit, treatments, complex patient care issues under the direction of physician or manager and documentation
• Polite and courteous manner to patients and OFMC contacts. Respond to concerns appropriately.
• Handle records with care and confidentiality
• Ability to handle, label and package patient specimens
• Support the safety of all who may enter or leave OFMC, ensuring clear pathways, tidiness and safe use of equipment
• Identify unsafe situations and report to the Manager
• Practice safe disposal of medical items
• Ensure knowledge of emergency procedures, fire, police and ambulance services to the Centre and take charge of emergency situations in absence of physician.
• In absence of nursing duties, participate in administrative duties.

Supplies

• Nurses will ensure sufficient medical inventory. Report and record as directed to ensure the inventory is sufficient or ordered.
• Use equipment and supplies in a cost effective manner. Seek assistance for training when required.
• Ensure tidying of rooms and garbage disposal at the end of shift. Ensure rooms are restocked at a regular point throughout each week including brochures, lab reqs, forms and patient equipment.
• Updating / ordering supplies as required and on request manager
