We first opened our Grand Valley Fortifiers retail store to customers in 1970 as an outlet to serve local farmers in the Cambridge area. In 2012, we re-named our store Valley Feeds to better communicate the products and services we offer today. Here at Valley Feeds, we are committed to providing high quality, fresh feeds for wild birds, dogs, cats, farm animals, and horses. We also specialize in lawn and garden care products and can help customers plan the backyard pond of their dreams. Our in-store experts are ready to help customers pick the products best suited for their needs.

We’re looking to add a full-time Retail Sales Associate to our Valley Feeds team in Cambridge, Ontario. As an in-store expert, you will ensure that all Valley Feeds customers enjoy a first-class experience while shopping with us. As the ideal candidate for this role, you will be passionate about building strong, long-lasting relationships with our amazing clientele.

Our Valley Feeds store is located at 486 Main Street East in Cambridge, Ontario. Store hours are Monday to Saturday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, closed Sunday. This is a permanent full-time position with weekly hours ranging between 30-40 hours per week. You are required to have afternoon and weekend availability. A competitive starting wage will be offered for this position.

What you’ll do:

• Greet and welcome customers and provide a great customer service to every single customer that walks through the door or calls the store.
• Provide support and assistance to customers by offering advice-based solutions to ensure they find the products they need.
• Achieve personal and team sales and profit targets.

• Follow the sale through to completion with the customer, which requires you to assist the customer with loading their products in their vehicle.
• Maintain professional and tidy in-store displays ensuring product is always fully stocked and neatly faced to uphold the Valley Feeds store brand.
• Assist with bagging wild bird seed, small animal feeds and handling pool chemicals.
• Create an exceptional environment which includes cleaning and maintenance both indoors and outdoors.

Your background includes:

• Minimum High School education or equivalent
• 1-2 years’ experience in customer service or an equivalent position
• A farming or agriculture background is an asset
• You must be able to lift 50 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods of time
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with customers
• Able to work both independently and as a part of a team
• Forklift experience is an asset
