We are looking for a casual self-directed, multi-tasking Rural and Remote Adult Mental Health and Substance Use Worker who enjoys working within a multi-disciplinary team environment at the Nakusp Health Centre in Nakusp, B.C.

What will you work on?
The day-to-day aspect of this position includes working within a Mental Health Day Treatment Program supporting the Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT) team.
The Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, whose purpose is to ensure that adults with serious mental disorders and/or substance use have access to responsive, sensitive and relevant assessment and treatment services. The program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behavior, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders. The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.
Shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.

Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Health, Behavioural or Social Science related field, from an accredited university.
Two (2) years recent related experience in a community mental health and/or substance use setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current valid BC driver’s license.
