Position Highlights

ICBC's Employee Relations department is hiring a Senior Employee Relations (ER) Advisor to join their team in Burnaby. As a

Senior ER Advisor, you will provide technical expertise on a wide range of labour relations issues to management, excluded and

Human Resources staff.

Specific Accountabilities:
  • Provides consultation and advice to management, excluded and HR staff on a wide range of labour
  • Identifies, interprets and applies relevant policies, practices, articles of the collective agreement, case law, and government
legislation and regulations.

  • Negotiates with union representatives to resolve disputes prior to formal grievance whenever possible.
  • Investigates, researches, and analyzes labour relations issues, conducts grievance hearings, and prepares cases for
arbitration hearings.

  • Develops strategies, gathers evidence, prepare and/or conduct interviews as applicable, and writes documentation.
  • May participate in collective bargaining as a resource.
  • Acts as a technical resource on corporate projects by providing a labour relations perspective of the impacts on planned
activities, programs and initiatives.

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, practices and methods of the labour relations field
  • Knowledge of the collective agreement and corporate and HR policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the relevant acts, legislation, regulations and case law to provide technical advice to others
  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, practices and techniques of conflict resolution to resolve complex and/or confrontational
labour relations issues

  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of research to identify, develop and present evidence at grievance and
arbitration hearings
