Senior Process Engineer Job at Skookumchuck Pulp Inc.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Technical Manager you will be responsible for performing and reporting on process studies, process modeling, trouble shooting, and detailed process engineering, applying understanding of pulp production to develop and improve process reliability, quality, cost and safety.
Responsibilities
Safety, Environmental & Quality
- Complies with OHS and organizational safety standards and practices.
- Develops, implements, and maintains process standards.
- Ensures Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards are met.
- Identifies and oversee the troubleshooting of problems and resolves urgent safety, reliability, quality, process or environmental issues.
- Awareness and compliance of environmental responsibilities.
Operations & Key Job Accountabilities
- Leads work to improve production process projects in the pulp production from conception through commercialization.
- Plans, installs and starts-up new equipment.
- Maintains adequate accurate documentation, including management of change for processes or procedures.
- Manages all process engineering activities.
- Oversees development of process improvements and optimize existing processes on a daily basis.
- Manages resource loading for project requirements, and implements developmental plans for resources.
Employee Relations & Customer Satisfaction
- Collaborates with operators and technicians to develop, improve, and monitor key procedures..
- Provides technical experience in delivering systemic process improvement and also providing coaching on technical issues to internal operations and process teams.
- Effectively communicates with all contactors.
Financial Accountability
- Contributes to and manages work and projects to established department budget.
- Estimates cost of labour, equipment, and other resources for proposals.
- Documents and reports on all variances.

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Pulp and Paper Engineering or related discipline required.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in process engineering in Kraft pulp manufacturing industry
- Experience in Bleach Plant operations an asset
- Competent and effective communication skills required.
- Proven ability in project management.
