Are you our next Senior Process Engineer for our Esterhazy Process Engineering team?
We are looking for a motivated and self-driven individual to provide technical support for our surface operations. As the Senior Process Engineer, you will lead a team and actively participate in improving our unique industrial milling processes through troubleshooting and design. You will serve as an active contributor to Mosaic cross-site and/or cross-functional assignments and initiatives. You will be frequently assigned to high-profile projects, support assignments, and will be responsible for front-end engineering support of capital projects.
Work responsibilities will reside in both the wet and dry surface processing areas. You may be responsible for direct or indirect supervision of consultants, contractors, technicians, or students.
The successful candidate will communicate and interface with a wide distribution of personnel including management, production, maintenance & reliability, capital, research & development, quality control, and trades.
What are the top responsibilities?
  • Leadership (40%). Oversee and direct the actions and work of the Process Engineering team in alignment with our roles and responsibilities. Coach and mentor direct reports and participate in site leadership initiatives. Champion site-wide projects or special teams as required. Ensure a high-level of safety and environmental excellence is sustained in the operation of the assets in our facilities. Promote and contribute to EHS excellence within the team and conduct Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA) Audits.
  • Operational Excellence (30%). Oversee the execution of technical troubleshooting and day-to-day support for operations to achieve targets. Work in conjunction with production personnel to eliminate technical barriers and drive accountability and ownership with the respective stakeholders. Co-chair daily/weekly/monthly KPI reviews & performance management best practices.
  • Improvement Projects (20%). Own the Process Engineering project registry and prioritize projects with site stakeholders. Oversee the timely and effective execution of process improvement projects for the mill process engineers (both K1 & K2). This may involve increasing production capabilities, debottlenecking, safety and environmental stewardship, and product quality improvements.
  • Planning (10%). Assist with planning activities including process modeling, development of production targets and parameters, capital design support, and five-year planning activities. Identifying longer term areas of improvement to fill through technology or innovation.
What else will you do?
  • This role has dual responsibility at both K1 & K2 surface processing facilities, with responsibilities integrated into the K3 underground mine as needed.
  • Stakeholder management with site Senior Managers, Superintendents, and production supervisors. Ensuring we are aligned on priorities, addressing short term and long-term objectives, and managing towards our defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Site budget creation. Adherence to budget.
  • Hiring and recruitment in conjunction with the Sr. Manager of Process Engineering
  • Team Building events
  • Provide input and oversight on IT priorities for monitoring and reporting site performance
What do you need for this role?
  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • 7+ years of practical engineering experience
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) status with APEGS
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Collaborative and can perform in a team environment.
  • Strong ability to set goals, priorities, and schedule to accomplish tasks.
  • Effective oral & written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
