Sunrise Farms is expanding in Alberta and we are looking for a Senior Production Manager for a brand new plant that will start its operations by the end of January 2023. The Senior Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily production operations through personal interaction with plant employees, Lead hands, Supervisors and Managers ensuring production process run smoothly and efficiently and that floor response to immediate problems as well as it is handled in a timely, constructive manner. This person will delegate authority to key supervisors in production, manage all functions involved and direct and coordinate operations for the processing plant.

PRIORITY: Assist Plant Manager in, developing a cohesive, competent team, managing and overseeing plant activities in order to maximize the stewardship, safety, continuous improvement, quality, food safety and productivity of our plant. Promote a healthy work culture ensuring plant and employee safety and health as priority.

The following list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties rather they are intended to only describe the nature of the job:

Interact regularly with Production, Maintenance, Finance, Sanitation and Quality Control/Assurance, OH&S and HR Managers, utilizing daily manufacturing reports that capture manufacturing performance.

  • Reviews, and monitors and reports on production key performance indicators, identified trends and makes recommendations to enhance productivity.
  • Directs the production planning and scheduling process by evaluating projected sales volumes, inventory requirements, and raw product availability, and ensures adequate supplies are on – hand to achieve production plan.
  • Provide regular coaching, guidance and direction to production teams, meeting at least weekly/bi-weekly for one on one individual and departmental performance reviews.
  • Monitors inventory levels for both Raw and Frozen products.
  • Control departmental operating costs ensuring all product orders are produced on time with no shortfall in quality or quantity.
  • Participate in the review and recommendation for capital improvements for equipment and plant facilities.
  • Analyze and identifies the cause of product deficiencies and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performances, and quality of product.
  • Guides and assists subordinates in solving production problems and ensures high standards are adhered to for general maintenance, safety, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensures a safe work environment is always maintained.
  • Develop and maintains a work environment that ensures positive employee relations, flexibility, and quick response to issues.
  • Stays current on production trends and recommends any changes in policies and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement and ensure HACCP, CFIA, GMP, BRC and all audit requirements are achieved and routinely adhered to.
  • Participates in the research, development, and design of long-range strategic objectives of operations and works with other department managers laying out and planning potential future operational changes.
  • Foster and maintain a positive labor relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, grievances or concerns are dealt with in a timely manner and employees are communicated with in an open manner.

REQUIRED SKILL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary diploma and/or degree (e.g., management studies, business).
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • Lean Manufacturing Skills andSix Sigma Certification required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs including ability to create, read and analyze Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Access
  • Demonstrated high leadership qualities in leading a business and team, must have ability to motivate employees to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Knowledge of safety systems and processes.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and follow through on the execution and improvement.
  • Excellent Analytical & organizational skills
  • Problem-solving, must be able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it, such as identifying defects in a production line.
  • Time Management, ability to face production deadlines, shipping dates and more, must manage time accordingly.
