Gateway Operations, a division of The Municipal Group of Companies, providing the Operations, Maintenance and Rehabilitation of the Route 1 Facility as part of a public private partnership with the Province of New Brunswick, is seeking the knowledge and expertise of Plow Operators based out of our maintenance depots located in Hampton and Musquash, New Brunswick. Both permanent and seasonal positions are available depending on the incumbents’ qualifications and experience. The position of Plow Operator is seasonal but could lead to a permanent position depending on experience and ability to conduct summer operations in a safe and effective manner.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Area Manager and guidance of the Highway Supervisors, Plow Operators will be predominantly responsible for operating commercial vehicle winter equipment during the deployment of Anti-icing, De-icing, Wetting and Snow Removal Operations based on a defined route segment conducted in accordance with company practices. During the winter season, Plow Operators may also be involved in additional routine and periodic activities as operational demands warrant.

Primary Duties for Seasonal Position of Plow Operators:
Snow Fighting Operations encompassing the safe operating of winter equipment for Anti-icing, De-icing, Wetting and Snow Removal activities based on established company practices.
Performing routine equipment maintenance including pre and post trip inspections.
Adhere to company health and safety policies in the workplace.
Other routine duties as may be assigned by your supervisor depending on qualifications, knowledge, experience and training.

Additional Duties for Permanent Position:
During the summer season, plow operators can be assigned to a permanent position as a Worker/Operator assigned to one or more of the following activities depending on the operator’s qualifications, knowledge, experience and training:

Traffic Control Operations (i.e. installation & removal of traffic control devices and signs completed in accordance with the New Brunswick Work Area Traffic Control Manual)
Vegetation control maintenance (i.e. manual & machine grass/brush cutting operations)
Road maintenance (i.e. pot hole patching, gravel shoulder repairs, debris removal)
Bridge maintenance (i.e. machine & manual bridge cleaning, snow board installation & removal)
Roadside maintenance (i.e. wildlife fence and ditch/backslope repairs, litter control)
Traffic control features maintenance (i.e. guiderail and sign repairs)
Crack Sealing operations
Hydro-seeding operations
Equipment and Shop cleaning
Other as assigned by your supervisor

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Previous snow plowing experience is preferred
Maintaining a clean driver’s abstract
Maintaining a Class 3E or Class 1E driver’s license is a condition of employment. A Class 1 driver’s license is considered an asset
In addition to normal business hours, willing to work night shifts, weekends and holidays when operational demands warrant
Ability to operate equipment and handle tools in a safe and responsible manner
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors
Working safely in accordance with company policies and processes is a condition of employment

Work Environment:
Employees are required to wear basic and task specific personnel protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policies and practices.
Appropriate training will be provided by the company.
