Internship Opportunity – Bell Textron Canada Limited Canadian Government Programs Team

Bell Textron Canada Limited (BTCL) is seeking a full-time, four-month intern for a paid position supporting 3D printing and other innovation projects at our Canadian Supply Centre in Calgary, AB. BTCL is both the OEM and prime weapon system support contractor for the Department of National Defence CH146 Griffon utility and tactical helicopter fleet.

Working with the Material Support group of Bell’s Canadian Government Programs (CGP) team, the incumbent will focus on designing and printing training aids, shipping supports, and scaled aircraft parts using a variety of FDM and resin printers. We are building capability and looking to expand our knowledge and output in this technology demonstration program. Other innovation projects in work include the installation of a foam-in-place packaging machine, opportunity to work with video production and editing equipment for our Griffon Video Series project, and various coding opportunities in VBA, SQL Studio, G-code and R to improve existing software tools and expand analytics of part consumption and forecasting for the fleet.

Local assets include a powerful PC with a variety of design software, an electronics bench that will evolve according to need (we have budget), two Prusa MK3S FDM printers, one Modix Big60 FDM printer and a FormLabs Form 3 resin printer with automated wash and cure stations.

The Canadian Supply Centre, located in the northeast corner of the logistics park near Calgary International Airport, is at Bay 101, 58 Aero Drive NE. The internship will be completed on site with a regular (5 x 8 hours) or compressed work week (4 x 9 hours, 1 x 4 hours) at the candidates’ discretion.

Candidates must be permanent residents or Canadian citizens. The successful candidate will be subject to security screening and will operate under Government of Canada reliability status for the duration of the internship.

• Undergraduate or graduate student with a solid GPA and good spread of extracurricular activities
• Proven design experience (academic and/or hobbyist level) and some experience with 3D printing
• Above average ability to question and evaluate complex datasets
• Business acumen, integrity, and interpersonal savvy to connect with stakeholders
• Creative, quick learning, willing to bring your best original ideas to a high performing team
