VCI is looking for a summer camp coordinator to plan, organize and coordinate Villa Charities kid’s summer camps.

The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for planning and overseeing every aspect of summer camps (including winter and spring break camps), daily activities, scheduling, lesson plans, purchasing of necessary supplies, administrative duties, and general camp operations, including:

Position Responsibilities

· Design, deliver, and evaluate camp programs that meet the needs and interests of the camps target populations and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner

· Plans, organizes and implements training for camp counsellors and addresses personnel concerns, as necessary

· Oversees summer camp budget, reassessing and adjusting according to enrollment numbers, monitoring revenue and expenses on an ongoing basis to ensure budget targets are met

· Organizes materials needed for day-to-day activities and curriculum.

· Communicates with parents about their child’s needs and achievements.

· Assists with a drop-off and pick-up system, monitoring and providing a safe environment for all children and their parents in the program.

· Maintains accurate records of attendance and sign-in/out documentation.

· Knows, understands, trains and executes all camp policies and emergency procedures associated with the camp.

· Compile reports including inventories, staff evaluations, camper evaluations, and recommendations for the following season

· Plan and execute a Day Camp marketing strategy in conjunction with the Marketing and Communication Director

· Has overall responsibility and accountability for camp operations, including staff, assets, and property

· Plays a crucial role in facilitating the future growth of the Columbus Centre camps

Qualifications Required

• Diploma or Degree in Recreation & Leisure, Outdoor Education, Business or applicable field
• Experience working at summer camps required
• Minimum of 3 years of significant leadership experience, preferably in a day camp environment
• Have a demonstrated ability in the recruitment and management of a camp staff team
• Ability to plan, organize, and carry-out daily, weekly and special programs
• Ability to supervise and evaluate staff, volunteers, and campers
• Must have experience with managing budgets
• Standard First Aid, CPR and AED defibrillator training
• Clear vulnerable sector police check
