At SMS Equipment our Summer Student - Labourers, in our Kamloops branch are responsible for assisting trades people, while maintaining a safe and clean work environment. We are looking for someone who is positive, great in communication and a team player to join our team!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for moving tools, equipment and other materials to and from work areas.
• Deliver vehicles and pick-up vehicles from customer sites.
• Washing and detailing company vehicles to quality standards
• Assisting mechanical, electrical, and body repairs of heavy equipment.
• Perform general shop clean up and equipment/parts cleaning.
• Steam clean, prepare and paint components.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
• Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. One or more years training/experience in an industrial environment or a related trade would be considered an asset. A valid driver’s license is required.

• Ability to operate with a forklift and crane.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Possess above average communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• The ability and attitude to ensure compliance to all workplace health and safety policies.
• Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy with a variety of individuals and groups.
• Possess a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellence, acute safety awareness.
