Summer Student Research Assistant (Jul-Nov 2022) Job at Lethbridge College
Responsibilities
The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible for working with the Research Associates on various projects at the Advanced Post-harvest Technology Centre.
The RA will be required to dedicate their initial months on developing a wireless monitoring system. In August and September (may extend), they will be dedicated to the grain drying project, which requires extensive travel within the province for farm visits.
Job Duties
- Assist during field visits for installation of monitoring systems at farm sites
- Able to climb and work on the top of the sugar beet piles and grain bins
- Experienced working with Raspberry Pi with coding skills and integrate sensors
- Able to collect data and do basic data analysis To assist in procuring data from grain dyers and grain bins
- Assist in grain sample collection from grain bins and drive to the farms across province as needed
- Degree/Diploma in Computer Science & Technology/Engineering/Agriculture
- Skilled in programming (C, C++ or Python), interface development for open source use
- Full driver’s license: Class 5
- Certification on working at heights and confined space (not mandatory).
- Strong communication and management abilities
