Position Overview:

The Systems Engineer III is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the organization’s Microsoft Windows Server operating systems On-Prem/Cloud and enterprise storage. The role analyzes and resolves problems associated with Windows server and storage hardware, detects, diagnoses, and reports Windows or storage related problems on servers, and performs any associated updates.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots Windows operating systems, storage, network connectivity and software issues
  • Subject matter expert for administering Microsoft Office 365
  • Escalation Support for all Microsoft Technologies.
  • Reviews logging mechanisms and monitors system performance
  • Develops and maintains documentation including server build docs, configuration standards, and infrastructure architecture
  • Manages security and OS patch management level on servers
  • Provides regular status reports on tasks accomplished, current issues, and progress toward goals
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation of system design, operation, and procedure manuals
  • Manages projects, ensuring they are kept under budget and completed in a timely manner
  • Follows ITIL best practices in Incident, Problem, Change and Release management, resolves business impacting issues within SLAs
  • Participates in rotating on-call coverage or emergency response, as needed

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a combination of training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in an Enterprise Windows environment and proficiency with currently supported editions of Microsoft Windows Server
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Windows System Administration
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, which emphasis on email
  • Expert level knowledge of PowerShell
  • Basic to intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Windows Server performance tuning
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Windows server security and best practices
  • Experience supporting production and pre-production environments across multiple locations and the technologies to support them
  • Understanding of ITIL processes

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Microsoft Windows Server Certifications
  • Azure Certifications
  • Admin experience with Microsoft SharePoint Services
  • Experience with Microsoft .Net and IIS web service component and administration.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily sedentary: must be able to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently.
