The International Transportation Team Lead will provide leadership and direction to a team of Business Analysts and Specialist with a primary focus on Land Operations and Analysis but will also spend time on the offshore ocean side of the operation. The Team Lead, with the support of their team, will oversee all Transload facilities (including contract negotiation) and work closely with Vancouver operations, drayage partners, ocean terminals, rail carriers, and equipment teams. The Team Lead will also focus on integrating the Ashcroft terminal more seamlessly into our inbound processes and work to unlock the additional long-term value of this important capability.

Reporting to the Manager of International Transportation and working closely with the other Team Lead of International Transportation (who’s primary focus is on the offshore ocean side of the operation) will work with multiple stakeholders to ensure all goals are targets are reached while pursuing opportunities for improvement.

What you’ll do

  • Lead a team to support the daily management of Transload operations in Vancouver, Prince Rupert, and Halifax

  • Work closely and in conjunction with the Vancouver Operations team to ensure the priority and sequence of container flow is provided along with weekly communication of work, priorities, issues, and resolution.

  • Act as the key escalation contact for Transload operations for all internal and external stakeholders.

  • Work closely with Transload management to ensure that capacity and staffing requirements are maintained to handle current and forecasted offshore container volume.

  • Support the Transload BAs to create weekly & daily production plans based off the vessel arrival schedules, manage changes to inbound flow, and develop action plans based on volume and handling requirements.

  • Support the Transload BAs to identify and manage productivity improvements within each transload to benefit CTC supply chain and transportation.

  • Monitor transload performance metrics against set service level targets and action as necessary.

  • Support strategic & tactical projects throughout the year.

  • Ensure effective flow of communication between both internal and external partners.

  • Work with the manager on priorities, timelines, resource assignment, issue resolution, communications, team development, and performance reviews.

  • Provide feedback and coaching to team members daily.

  • Complete analyses and presentations as required, presenting findings to various stakeholders including senior management.

  • Participate in projects as assigned and provide recommendations.

What you bring

  • Minimum 5 years working in related fields with international supply chain experience a strong asset.

  • Have and/or obtain professional education in international product flow, customs and compliance, freight forwarding and related international transportation designations

  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, process thinking, strong presentation and interaction skills, as well as excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Strong ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders to meet objectives.

  • Proven track record in coaching and developing individuals through daily interactions.

  • Knowledge of Canadian Tire Supply Chain an asset.
