We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill our temporary Operating Technician position in our Power and Recovery department. The expected term of this employment will be until December 31, 2023, with the possibility of extension.

Roles and Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the steam and causticizing areas and all associated equipment in order to safely maximize mill production
• Abide by all safety precautions, government regulations and company policies and procedures related to the safe operation of the department and in compliance with ABSA regulations
• Ensure that safety codes and other applicable regulations are followed
• Use computerized systems to control, start, and shutdown the operation of boilers and equipment
• Troubleshoot and take corrective action to equipment for inspection and repair through operator-driven reliability
• Identify critical process challenges; draw logical conclusions providing options and recommendations
• Additional duties, as required

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Preference will be given to candidates with a 4th class ABSA certificate or greater, and who have experience operating in a Kraft pulp mill environment
• Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
