JOB SUMMARY
The Community & Social Services (CSS) department is responsible for creating a strong social infrastructure by providing support to families and individuals in need in order to promote their self reliance and quality of life, in collaboration with community partners. This includes providing financial assistance, housing, childcare, employment, personal care and referral.
You coordinate and develop training initiatives associated with supporting staff learning and development specific to Long Term Care policies and procedures, guidelines, processes and business applications. You deliver training and information sessions to staff, community agencies, and other city branches for the purposes of providing information and increasing awareness of Long Term Care programs and services. You also design, develop, distribute and maintain a variety of training materials that support the delivery of staff training.
In collaboration with Long Term Care Management, committees/workgroups, and Operations and Program Support staff, you ensure the development of training modules that support the integration of policy and procedure with operations and program delivery. In addition, you provide support by contributing to the setting and achievement of goals, objectives and priorities of the branch, and initiate changes within areas of responsibility to continuously improve services and to align with branch and departmental direction.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 3 year university degree or community college diploma in a Social Services field or Business Administration
Minimum of 3 years of related progressive experience within a social service environment that includes delivering presentations and/or facilitating groups is required
Experience training, teaching, conducting needs assessments/analysis, developing curriculum and evaluating training will be considered an asset

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: Designated Day 1 Ready – immediate requirement for language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing Candidates must meet language requirement for position upon hire.
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Must be available some evenings and weekends for training purposes.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
- The successful candidate will be required to complete a Declaration of Offences and Misconduct form.
