Job Overview

The Fleet Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment. This role works closely with the Fleet Services team to ensure vehicle maintenance is kept up to date, perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain medium and heavy-duty trucks and mounted hydraulic equipment
  • Maintain service documentation records and complete reports of work performed
  • Review work orders and establish priorities with Garage Foreman
  • Ensure the schedule for vehicle and equipment repairs are fulfilled as assigned
  • Trouble shoot and maintain hydraulic and electric systems · Continuously learn in welding, fabricating, and grinding, and gas and electric systems
  • Perform all duties in compliance with all policies, procedures and safety regulations
  • Maintain a valid driver’s licence to pick up, deliver and test vehicles
  • Required to provide own tools

Experience & Education

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working on heavy duty trucks or heavy-duty equipment
  • High School Diploma required
  • Related Technical Trade 310T Certificate is preferred though apprentices are also eligible
  • Knowledge of utility equipment is an asset
  • Hydraulic experience is an asset
  • Welding experience is an asset Skills
  • Valid Driver’s Licence – Driver Abstract will be requested
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of heavy equipment, trucks and trailers
  • Accuracy diagnosing mechanical issues
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Cleanliness in working environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills as it relates to trucks and equipment
  • Strong communication skills
