In this role, you will provide a variety of secretarial and administrative support services to the Superintendent of the Algoma Treatment & Remand Centre.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
  • Provide a variety of administrative coordination services to the Superintendent
  • Write, transcribe and edit a variety of confidential material (letters, directives, memos and reports)
  • Provide highly confidential secretarial services to the Superintendent (i.e. maintain diary and schedule for the Superintendent, maintain personnel records, coordinate grievance letters and meetings etc.)
  • Provide human resources administration services to the Superintendent
  • Respond to telephone inquiries
  • Arrange travel accommodations
  • Take minutes for various meetings and ensure timely distribution


How do I qualify?

Office Administrative Knowledge and Skills:

  • You have well developed administrative and organizational skills to meet priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • You have the ability to coordinate own work along with Superintendent's schedule
  • You pay attention to detail and are able to transcribe meeting minutes and write a variety of documents
  • You have knowledge and experience with standard office and filing procedures


Specialized Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge of personnel policies, practices, regulations and directives
  • You have knowledge of Collective Agreements and the Public Service Act as they pertain to payroll and attendance
  • You have proven computer proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database and e-mail software as well as various office equipment


Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • You have excellent communication skills to provide information to others in person, on the telephone and in writing by formal correspondence and email
  • You demonstrate discretion, tact and diplomacy when responding to a wide variety of inquiries from staff and external contacts
  • You have the ability to maintain highly confidential information
