FLSmidth is bringing a new Service Team and has an exciting growth opportunity for an experienced Alignment Engineer to join our team.

Wage range: CAD $34.36/h – CAD $38/h
Language of work: English
Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time.
Location of work: Timmins (Ontario) and various mining sites across Canada
Job duties:
The Alignment Engineer will perform duties that include but are not limited to: kiln component alignment and grinding, also mechanical analysis measurement and correction, supervising shimming/ replacement of rollers, bearings, run-out measurements of gears and pinions, shell sections and tires, assisting repair crews in setting and grouting bases.
To be effective, the successful candidate will:
- Carry out kiln/dryer alignment jobs (Hot Kiln Alignment / Cold Alignment / Thrust Monitor Alignment) and grinding jobs during operation/shutdown at our customer sites according to our patented procedure and analyzing the measurements
- Plan, organize & prioritize many concurrent tasks.
- Formulate recommendations and ensure that all quality records and reports are completed and present the same to the customer at the customer site. Carry out possible recommendations after the analysis & presentation.
- Trouble Shoot of Kiln / Dryer during Operation.
- Provide support to our Repair crew by installing base frames, rollers, tires, drive components and shell sections to specified tolerances.
- Maintain safety culture and report any unsafe equipment/condition / near miss to the immediate manager/supervisor.
- Be familiar with the procedures for repairing and maintaining rotary equipment.
- Maintain and inventory all tools and equipment provided by the company. Coordinate with Project Manager and Repair Shop Manager for maintenance/upkeep.
- Assist Engineering / Spares department in obtaining kiln component dimensions.
- Work with Engineering Department to perform Load Analysis of equipment.
- Complete assigned duties safely and efficiently in compliance with company procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date contact information in order to be reached for work.
- Travel: The work requires extensive travel to different sites across Canada.
Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Civil) or related field experience with rotary equipment (Kilns/ Dryers).
- Maintain a current certificate status in safety training.
- Knowledge of surveying rotary equipment (Kilns/Dryers) & its operation will be an added advantage
- Well conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project & advanced concepts
